Each rule below is paired with the way it is most likely enforced. Where the rules state a number, we quote it. Where they do not, we say so instead of guessing.

Give us details about what types of games you enjoy, which games you don't enjoy, and why you're unsure about your purchase. People can't help you make a decision if you don't express yourself.    You may not make threads on unreleased content. People can't give you a recommendation on something that no one had the chance to try out.

   No spoilers without a warning. Spoilers include, and are not limited to, revealing something about the plot late in the game or explaining an important plot point. This goes for both comments and posts. Mark something as a spoiler by putting the spoiler text in between `>!` and `!<` (with no space in between). It should appear as like this: >!Broodje eats socks!!<. You can get banned on the first offense for this.

5. 5.No Trading

   Please no trading here. While giving away games is fine, this is not the place for the trading of games of any sort. Go to /r/SteamGameSwap to do that.

   You may not encourage in any way to illegally obtain or modify a game. While we do not care to pry into your own personal decision, we will not allow you to tell others to torrent, pirate, modify, or in any other way get a hold of a game without legal consent of the producer. Paid mods fall in this category, but free mods generally are fine. This goes for both comments and posts.

   No spam of any sort, including using the same words or phrases repeatedly, writing nonsense to bypass the minimum character limit, Youtube/Twitch channel promotions, promotion of your own game, repetitive/unwarranted recommendations, or links to websites outside of the normal realm of video game shopping.

9. 9.Do not try to profit from our community

   Do not try to profit from our community in any way. This also includes referral or affiliate links when you recommend games. Failure to abide by this rule will result in a permanent and irrevocable ban.

10. 10.Be Cool

    Be Cool. This place is chill. We're talking about video games. If you can't be chill, get out. Disagreements are okay, but do not engage in personal attacks, **even in retribution**. Instead of lashing back, report them and move on. Someone breaking the rules does not give you permission to also break the rules. We're very strict with this rule, and won't hesitate to permaban without further warning.

    No Politics : A game subreddit isn't really conducive to political discussion.

12. 12.English Only

    All posts and comments must be in English. This rule ensures that the subreddit remains accessible and understandable to the majority of the community members. Any post or comment made in a language other than English will be removed. Commonly known phrases or terms that are in another language are acceptable, provided that they are used within an otherwise English post or comment.

r/ShouldIbuythisgame does not publish karma or account-age minimums in its rules. Subreddits often enforce unpublished filters on top of what they write down, which is why posts from new accounts can vanish without a message here.
