r/BanGDream rules: what actually gets removed

Each rule below is paired with the way it is most likely enforced. Where the rules state a number, we quote it. Where they do not, we say so instead of guessing.

  1. 1.Please follow the Reddiquette!

    Enforcement varies

    >Reddiquette is an informal expression of the values of many redditors, as written by redditors themselves. While these are not official rules, please abide by it the best you can. This includes remaining civil in discussion, regardless of the subject, and refraining from harassment of other users. [The full document can be found here.](https://www.reddithelp.com/en/categories/reddit-101/reddit-basics/reddiquette)

  2. 2.No advertising

    Enforcement varies

No advertising of your own website, shop, fundraising project, etc. without prior approval from subreddit moderators. Web tools are allowed at the moderators' discretion if it is helpful to the community.

  3. 3.No posts irrelevant to BanG Dream!

    Removed by moderators

Applies mainly to posts. Any and all content should relate to the *BanG Dream!* franchise in some way, whether it's the seiyuu, anime, merchandise, mobile game, live shows, etc. Anything not in some way pertaining to the *BanG Dream!* franchise is subject to removal at the moderators' discretion. This applies to seiyuu content - posts must be directly related to the Bandori franchise. Birthday posts and major news are exempt.

  4. 4.Tag NSFW posts, no nudity/sexual/gore content

    Enforcement varies

Tag all NSFW posts. This refers to posts or unofficial artworks in which characters are dressed skimpily (swimsuits, underwear, etc.) Explicit nudity, engagement of lewd/sexual acts, and gore are **disallowed even when tagged NSFW**. No images that are derived from, or directly link to, sexually explicit material. This prohibition extends to the sexualization of the Bandori characters in the comments, and the comparison of the characters to other sexual misrepresentations of them.

  5. 5.Post Trading/Giveaway posts in /r/BandoriTrades

    Enforcement varies

All trading and giveaway posts should be posted in /r/BandoriTrades. They also provide middlemen services for more security.

  6. 6.No shitposting/low-quality/low-effort content

    Enforcement varies

Examples of"Low-quality/low-effort": Game-related screenshots such as scorecaps & band lineups, achievements, visual glitches, and things of this nature. These should be posted in the Weekly Free Talk and Q&A Megathread. Reposts of unofficial infographics that don't add anything to the official sources. Shitposts include deep-fried memes, distorted editing of characters, content relating to controversial topics, and things of this nature. These should be posted in /r/GirlsMemeParty instead.

  7. 7.Flair all posts appropriately

    Enforced automatically

Tag all posts with the correct flair immediately after posting. This is for people to search more easily for their desired post. Note that discussion of Girls Band Party strategy and other game-related discussions should be under "Girls Band Party". Only tag "Discussion" if it relates to the characters but not the actual gameplay.

  8. 8.Post in the appropriate Megathread

    Enforcement varies

GBP game questions, luck-related content, achievements, and aforementioned low-effort content are to be posted in the Free Talk and Q&A Megathread. Gacha pulls with three 4* cards (five during Dream/KiraFes Events) and above *or* with every Rate-Up card on the current banner are allowed as separate threads. Help threads are allowed if the user has posted in the Megathread and gotten no responses for minimum 12 hours. Please state this in your thread if this happens so the mods are notified.

  9. 9.All posts should be appropriately titled

    Enforcement varies

All titles should accurately describe the contents of the post. It should be clear what the post is about just from the title. This means no titles like "help", "??? not sure what I'm doing wrong", "translations where?" and so on. Please try to avoid excessive punctuation/capitalization, and spell/word your titles in a way that is easily understandable, to the best of your ability.

  10. 10.Fanarts and other external media must be properly sourced/No AI

    Enforcement varies

All non-OC fanart should be sourced back to its **original creator** (i.e. linked to the same piece of art from the artist's Twitter, Pixiv, deviantArt, etc). Boorus are not viable sources. It is strongly encouraged to link the fanart directly to the thread's URL instead of reposting to reddit, imgur, etc. Please check if the artist is against reproduction of their work without permission before reposting it. Any original content should be flaired as "Fanmade [OC]".

  11. 11.No illegal content/download sharing

    Removed by moderators

No download links to copyrighted/illegal/paid content are allowed. This includes links to illegal streaming sites and torrents. Comments or posts containing such are subject to removal, and punishment may occur on repeat offences.

  12. 12.No vent/rant posts.

    Enforcement varies

If you would like to post a vent or a rant, please post them in the Free Talk and Q&A Megathread instead.

  13. 13.No discussions regarding character age over NSFW-marked threads

    Enforcement varies

Discussions surrounding the age of the characters of the franchise, in particular those attached to NSFW-tagged posts, are quick to devolve into arguments, and are no longer tolerated due to their frequency and severity. Posts and comments of this nature are liable to be removed by a moderator, with warnings and eventual suspensions following for repeat offenses.

  14. 14.Post Limit

    Enforcement varies

Users may post a maximum of 6 posts within a 24-hour period.

What gets removed in r/BanGDream

  • Self-promotion

r/BanGDream bans self-promo outright. Product links, launch posts, and thinly framed "feedback" posts are removed.

  • Low karma or a new account

r/BanGDream publishes no karma or age minimum, but unpublished account filters are common at this size. New accounts should comment before posting.

  • AI-generated content

r/BanGDream removes content it judges to be AI-generated. Obvious AI phrasing in a draft raises removal risk even when a human wrote most of it.

  • Reddit's sitewide spam filter

A separate layer before the subreddit ever sees your post. New accounts posting links, URL shorteners, and repeated domains are its favorite targets. Removals are instant and silent.

  • A shadowbanned account

If the account itself is shadowbanned, every post looks live to you and invisible to everyone else, in any subreddit.

r/BanGDream posting questions

Can I post links in r/BanGDream?

Yes. r/BanGDream accepts link posts. The usual sitewide traps still apply: URL shorteners, affiliate parameters, and brand-new domains get filtered fast, and promotional links are judged against the sub's self-promo rules. One clean link to the original source is the safe pattern.

Does r/BanGDream require karma to post?

r/BanGDream does not publish a karma minimum. That does not mean there is none: many subreddits enforce unpublished karma and account-age filters that remove posts silently. If your account is new or has little karma, that is the first thing to rule out when a post disappears.

Can you self-promote in r/BanGDream?

No. r/BanGDream bans self-promotion outright: product links, launch posts, and thinly framed feedback posts get removed. The sub's own wording: "No advertising of your own website, shop, fundraising project, etc. without prior approval from subreddit moderators.". If you want eyes on your project, contribute first and look for communities with a promo lane.

Is r/BanGDream strict?

Moderate, by our estimate (30/100 on our strictness scale, from its measured removal rate, 14 rules, and its stated gates). About 0% of recent posts disappeared within a day in our sample. Strictness is about enforcement, not hostility: a strict sub is predictable if you follow its rules.

Does r/BanGDream allow AI-generated content?

No. r/BanGDream removes content it judges to be AI-generated. That includes obviously AI-phrased text even when a human edited it, so rewrite drafts in your own voice before posting here.

What is the best time to post in r/BanGDream?

Based on our sample of recent and top posts, activity and scores peak around Wednesday 3pm UTC and Thursday 2pm UTC. Treat this as a starting point, not a guarantee: a post that breaks a rule gets removed at any hour. The heatmap on this page converts these windows to your local time.

Why do posts get removed in r/BanGDream?

The most common reasons are self-promotion violations, plus the layers every subreddit has: Reddit's sitewide spam filter, unpublished AutoMod rules, and account-level gates like karma and age. In our recent sample, roughly 0% of r/BanGDream posts disappeared within about a day of going up. Many removals are silent, so checking your draft first beats finding out after.
