r/StableDiffusion rules: what actually gets removed

Each rule below is paired with the way it is most likely enforced. Where the rules state a number, we quote it. Where they do not, we say so instead of guessing.

1. 1.Posts Must Be Open-Source or Local AI image/video/software Related

   Enforcement varies

   Posts must center on open-source/local AI tools (e.g. Stable Diffusion, Flux, PixArt). When relevant you should clearly list tools in the title/body and explain your workflow. Mixed workflows are OK only if they center on the use of local or free tools. Using open tools briefly, then switching to paid/proprietary ones (e.g. SD → Kling) is not allowed. News and comparisons are welcome.

2. 2.Be Respectful and Follow Reddit's Content Policy

   Respect all artists and users. Constructive critique is welcome, but personal attacks, hate speech, trolling, or bad faith arguments are not. Don’t derail threads or provoke others. 3. 3.No X-rated, lewd, or sexually suggestive content

   Enforcement varies

   No nudity, lewdness, or sexually suggestive imagery. If it wouldn’t be appropriate for a workplace or younger audience, don’t post it here. NSFW tags are not an exception, stay classy.

4. 4.No Gore or Excessive Violence

   Content must be suitable for a general audience. Surreal or eerie imagery is fine, but avoid graphic violence, gore, or shock content. Focus on creativity and storytelling over brutality or horror.

5. 5.No Politics

   Enforcement varies

   No political figures, imagery, or partisan posts. Legislation or policy discussions related to AI are allowed if relevant, respectful, and on-topic. Don’t post memes or images involving politics, even as jokes. Keep the focus on AI generation and creativity

6. 6.No Reposts, Spam, Low-Quality, or Excessive Self-Promo

   Enforcement varies

   Don't post just to promote yourself or drive traffic to paid tools, services, or downloads. No paywalls, affiliate links, or hidden URLs. Low-effort posts like images/videos without context or workflows are not allowed. Tutorials and tools must be free and directly accessible. Always search before posting to avoid repeat posts about the same thing.

7. 7.Use the Correct Flair

   Tag your posts with the correct flair (e.g., News, Tutorial, Workflow). This helps users understand the content at a glance and keeps the subreddit organized. NSFW flair may be auto-applied by Reddit’s systems, but that doesn’t mean it bypasses our rules. Use Flairs appropriately and accurately.

8. 8.Mod Discretion / Unforeseen Violations

   We can’t predict every possible rule-break. Mods may remove posts or ban users for behavior that clearly violates the spirit of the subreddit, even if it's not covered by an existing rule. This includes things like loophole abuse, coordinated disruption, unexpected spam formats, or new types of low-effort content. This rule exists to protect the community from emerging issues and bad-faith behavior. We’ll use it sparingly and with reason. If in doubt, message the mods before posting

r/StableDiffusion does not publish karma or account-age minimums in its rules. Subreddits often enforce unpublished filters on top of what they write down, which is why posts from new accounts can vanish without a message here.
