Estimated survival rate

85%

of 26 recent r/lesbian posts we sampled were still publicly visible about a day later.

How this is measured

Estimate. We sample recent public posts and check again about 18 hours later to count how many are still publicly visible. Posts removed at the moment of submission never become publicly visible at all, so the true removal rate is at least this high. Last sampled Oct 10, 2026.

r/lesbian rules: what actually gets removed

Each rule below is paired with the way it is most likely enforced. Where the rules state a number, we quote it. Where they do not, we say so instead of guessing.

  1. 1.This subreddit is for lesbians 18+

    Enforcement varies

People under 18 will be banned from the subreddit if they post here.

  2. 2.No hateful content

    Enforcement varies

This includes transphobia, racism, biphobia, ableism, misogyny and other forms of bigotry. This includes use of slurs, gatekeeping and name calling

  3. 3.Keep posts on topic

    Enforced automatically

We can't list everything that isn't allowed here so instead here's a list of things that are allowed: art, playlists, book recommendations, lesbian fashion, movies, games, travel tips etc. Please use the correct flair for your post.

  4. 4.Potentially triggering content.

    Enforcement varies

We want this to be a humorous and fun subreddit. There are lots of LGBTQ+ spaces here on reddit where you'll be able to get the support and help you need, please see the sidebar for a list of subreddits. Any posts about triggering topics like homophobia, problems at school/with family, abusive partners will be removed. This isn't because we want to invalidate your experience, it just doesn't fit in with our posting guidelines, as we want this to be a fun place.

  5. 5.NO TERFS

    Enforcement varies

This is a safe space for trans and non-binary lesbians and any content considered to be transphobic will be removed and the person posting will be banned. This includes posting in bad faith and bait posts.

  6. 6.No Porn or sexual content.

    Enforcement varies

Posting links to porn sites isn’t allowed here. Any links will be removed and will result in the user getting a permanent ban. This includes banning accounts who have previously posted porn/only fans links in other subreddits. No Only Fans. This subreddit is Only Van. We also don't allow any other content, so no asking for vibrator recs or sex tips. More info can be found in the FAQ

  7. 7.No asking for personal details, or if people want to chat.

    Enforcement varies

LGBTQ reddit has a problem with cis-het men pretending to be lesbians, scammers and porn bots. All posts asking if people want to chat, snapchat, insta or discord links (or other social media) will be removed, and users will be banned.

  8. 8.No selfies!

    Enforcement varies

Selfies are banned here. This is due to a high number of cis het men stealing and using women's photos to catfish LGBTQ+ women on reddit. If you post a selfie, you'll be banned.

  9. 9.Academic research/Studies.

    Enforcement varies

We have a ban on all research projects and studies here. Any data from here is unlikely to be accurate due to the history of the subreddit and the number of trolls here. Please check the sidebar for a list of LGBTQ subreddits that may allow this content.

  10. 10.No trolling, bait, or bad faith posts.

    Enforcement varies

This includes trolling mods by DM. Your post being removed isn't an invitation to debate the mods by DM, you'll be banned and muted.

  11. 11.Credit the artist

    Enforcement varies

If you're posting art and it isn't original content, please credit the artist (and include the name of the piece if possible). Failure to do so will result in the post being removed

  12. 12.Post flairs

    Enforced automatically

We've set up some post flairs, if you use the wrong one, your post will be removed. If you do this repeatedly you will be temp banned. Only vans flair is for U-Haul memes only.

r/lesbian does not publish karma or account-age minimums in its rules. Subreddits often enforce unpublished filters on top of what they write down, which is why posts from new accounts can vanish without a message here.

Can you self-promote in r/lesbian?

r/lesbian does not state a clear self-promo policy in its rules. Treat that as caution, not permission: mods remove promo at their discretion, and Reddit's sitewide spam filter still applies. A value-first post that mentions your project beats a launch-style post here.

What gets removed in r/lesbian

  • Low karma or a new account

r/lesbian publishes no karma or age minimum, but unpublished account filters are common at this size. New accounts should comment before posting.

  • Reddit's sitewide spam filter

A separate layer before the subreddit ever sees your post. New accounts posting links, URL shorteners, and repeated domains are its favorite targets. Removals are instant and silent.

  • A shadowbanned account

If the account itself is shadowbanned, every post looks live to you and invisible to everyone else, in any subreddit.

r/lesbian posting questions

Can I post links in r/lesbian?

Yes. r/lesbian accepts link posts. The usual sitewide traps still apply: URL shorteners, affiliate parameters, and brand-new domains get filtered fast, and promotional links are judged against the sub's self-promo rules. One clean link to the original source is the safe pattern.

Does r/lesbian require karma to post?

r/lesbian does not publish a karma minimum. That does not mean there is none: many subreddits enforce unpublished karma and account-age filters that remove posts silently. If your account is new or has little karma, that is the first thing to rule out when a post disappears.

Is r/lesbian strict?

Relaxed, by our estimate (18/100 on our strictness scale, from its measured removal rate, 12 rules, and its stated gates). About 15% of recent posts disappeared within a day in our sample. Strictness is about enforcement, not hostility: a strict sub is predictable if you follow its rules.

What is the best time to post in r/lesbian?

Based on our sample of recent and top posts, activity and scores peak around Wednesday 6pm UTC and Monday 10pm UTC. Treat this as a starting point, not a guarantee: a post that breaks a rule gets removed at any hour. The heatmap on this page converts these windows to your local time.

Why do posts get removed in r/lesbian?

The most common reasons are flair required violations, plus the layers every subreddit has: Reddit's sitewide spam filter, unpublished AutoMod rules, and account-level gates like karma and age. In our recent sample, roughly 15% of r/lesbian posts disappeared within about a day of going up. Many removals are silent, so checking your draft first beats finding out after.
