Each rule below is paired with the way it is most likely enforced. Where the rules state a number, we quote it. Where they do not, we say so instead of guessing.
1.Only post things loosely related to "copywriting."
Enforcement variesDon't post fiction or poetry or other things that aren't LOOSELY related to copywriting. EXCEPTION: If you want to discuss something *seemingly* unrelated through the lens of copywriting, make sure it's in the post, headline, or comments.
2.No bilking, scamming, spamming, or profiteering.
Enforcement variesThis isn't a marketing channel. A wee bit of self-promotion is fine, so long as it's a free & helpful resource. If links lead to a paid or lead gen effort, it must be disclosed or the post will be removed. If the post is all pitch and no value, it will be removed.
3.No undisclosed or unsolicited links
Enforcement variesLinks are fine, but you must disclose whether payment or email signup is necessary to access information (even if free). Posts or comments that exist only to shill a product or service (e.g., a GPT-3 AI copywriting tool) will be removed and the user will be banned. Affiliate links will be removed and the user banned. Linking a free or paid service in response to someone's question or a request is ok.
4.No pirating courses, content, etc.
Enforcement variesDon't pirate or ask for pirated copies of books, courses, or other content that one would otherwise pay for. Instant ban for breakers of this rule.
5.No AI Shills
Enforcement variesNo links to AI copywriting tools, no product reviews, no beta tests. Instant ban for anyone who posts this stuff. Only discussion is allowed.
6.Don't be a dick.
Enforcement variesThis is a tough space for working professionals and it will feature lots of controversial topics. You're allowed to have opinions and be assertive. Arguing, tough feedback, and strong disagreements are fine. .. AS LONG AS IT IS CIVIL. *Unwarranted* name-calling and flagrant rudeness are not ok. If you're constantly rude you'll be warned and then banned.
7.Personal Income Claims or Promises Require Verification
Enforcement variesAny post making a claim about personal income or revenue generated needs to provide credible proof or back up in the post or privately to the mods of the sub. Posts won't be removed, but mods will comment about whether verification has been requested and/or provided.
8.Job ads are fine. Pitching your copy services is not.
Enforcement variesIt is ok to make a post about hiring. It is not ok to make a post advertising your copywriting services.
r/copywriting does not publish karma or account-age minimums in its rules. Subreddits often enforce unpublished filters on top of what they write down, which is why posts from new accounts can vanish without a message here.

What gets removed in r/copywriting
Self-promo outside the designated thread
Promotion is only allowed in a designated recurring thread. A standalone promo post gets removed.
Low karma or a new account
r/copywriting publishes no karma or age minimum, but unpublished account filters are common at this size. New accounts should comment before posting.
AI-generated content
r/copywriting removes content it judges to be AI-generated. Obvious AI phrasing in a draft raises removal risk even when a human wrote most of it.
Reddit's sitewide spam filter
A separate layer before the subreddit ever sees your post. New accounts posting links, URL shorteners, and repeated domains are its favorite targets. Removals are instant and silent.
A shadowbanned account
If the account itself is shadowbanned, every post looks live to you and invisible to everyone else, in any subreddit.

Can I post links in r/copywriting?
No. r/copywriting accepts text posts only, so a link-only submission is rejected at the door. You can usually mention a link inside the body text, but the sub's rules on self-promotion still apply to it. Check your draft against the rules before posting.
Does r/copywriting require karma to post?

Why do posts get removed in r/copywriting?
