What we read
Everything the graveyard uses is public. When anyone, logged out, looks at a Reddit account's post history, Reddit itself reports each post's state: still live, removed by moderators, removed by AutoMod, removed by Reddit's own filters, or deleted by the author. We read those public signals for the account's recent posts and count them. That is the whole trick. There is no private access, no login on your behalf, and nothing you could not verify yourself by opening the same profile in a private browser window.
What counts as silently removed
A post removed by moderators, by AutoMod, or by Reddit's sitewide filters. These removals are silent in a specific way: the author usually still sees the post as live on their own screen while everyone else sees nothing. That gap is what the graveyard measures.
Posts you deleted yourself are nevercounted as removed. Deleting your own post is your call, not Reddit's, and inflating the number with them would be dishonest. They are shown separately on the result when present.
How sure we are
Most removals carry an explicit public label, and for those the classification is direct. A minority only show indirect signs (for example, a removed-content placeholder without a stated mechanism). We count those as removed, attribute them to the most likely mechanism, and flag the result so you know some attribution is interpretation. Posts with no conclusive signal either way are labelled unknown and kept out of both sides of the math.
What the rate means
The removal rate is removed posts divided by removed plus survived posts, over the scanned window (the most recent posts; the free scan reads the latest 25). Author deletions and unknowns are excluded from both sides. One more honest caveat: posts that Reddit filters at the moment of submission never become publicly visible at all, so no public method can count them. The true removal rate can only be higher than what we show, not lower.
Privacy
Results show the subreddit, the title, and the removal state of affected posts. We never display the body text of a removed post; you may have written something in it you no longer want public. The share card has a hide-username option, and results are cached briefly so repeated checks of the same account do not hammer anyone. If you want a fresh read, the cache refreshes on its own within a day.
What this is not
The graveyard is not an accusation aimed at any community. Subreddits remove posts for their own reasons, many of them good. The point is simpler: you deserve to know what happened to the things you posted. If you want to stop feeding the graveyard, the checker on the homepage reads a draft against a subreddit's actual rules before you post it.
